Báinín is the colour of sheep's wool and is used widely in my artwork.
In Celtic lore, sheep were sacred: symbols of fertility, renewable and the wheel of the seasons.
At Imbolc, St. Brigids festival, the milk of the ewe meant that life was retuning. Their fleece, spun and dyed with roots and berries, clothed clans, carried stories and warmed the grave and cradle alike.
3" x 3" báinín on black aida, in a cream mount and 5" x 5" black wooden frame. Can be free standing or wall mounted.
