The Evangelists (Fine Art Print)

The Kilnaruane Pillar Stone is standing since the 6th century, rising over two metres tall,  just South West of Bantry, West Cork,  Ireland. It stands on the site of an early Christian monastic enclosure founded by St. Brendan. Richly carved on both faces,  this ancient stone has become my inspiration for my Kilnaruane Series.

The Evangelists depicts four animals, symbolising the four evangelists of the early Christian church, Matthew, Mark,  Luke and John.

In more recent years, the animals have become part of the imagery for the Sheep's Head Way. A 88km scenic loop from Bantry to the tip of the peninsula.
